regions.SummaryGrifols Diagnostic is seeking a Director, Molecular
R&D to lead the Research and Development efforts and projects
in San Diego, CA. The Director, Molecular R&D is responsible
for leading a group of Research Associates/Scientists working on
complex projects in support of the research and/or product
development goals and corporate strategy. This role focuses on one
area of R&D comprising related projects.To be successful in
this role, we are seeking individuals with extensive experience
with real-time PCR assay development, system integration, and IVD
experience from development to
commercialization.Responsibilities
- Manage groups of scientists responsible for different projects
who represent R&D on Core Teams.
- Represents R&D on Core Teams for complex product
development projects or in support of on-market products.
- May be called on to represent the Company at conferences
(presenting or attending) or with regulatory bodies.
- Manage a portion of the overall R&D budget in line with
corporate guidelines.
- Seen as a leader by effectively managing junior level employees
and communicating and collaborating with colleagues at all levels
and in all departments of the organization.
- Provides guidance to other departments to ensure success of
product launch and on-market products.
- Interacts with upper management in communicating project
status, issues and resourcing.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a group of diverse
individuals to move projects forward.
- Demonstrated results in research, applied research and/or
product development with product launch experience.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues.

- PhD Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field
and 5-7 years of industrial experience.
- MS Molecular Biology, Chemistry or related field and 9-11 years
of laboratory experience post-MS without thesis (8-10 years with
thesis).
- BA/BS Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related
field and 10-12 years of post-baccalaureate laboratory
experience.Experience
- Project or technical leadership experience required.
Supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of the following
experience:
- Managing groups of scientists responsible for different
projects who represent R&D on Core Teams.
- Representing R&D on Core Teams for complex product
development projects or in support of on-market products.
- Experience with molecular assay/instrument integration (from
early prototypes/breadboards to commercial launch of the
platform).
- Representing the Company at conferences (presenting or
attending) or with regulatory bodies.
- Managing a portion of the overall R&D budget in line with
corporate guidelines.
- Must be viewed as a leader based on effectively managing junior
level employees and communicating and collaborating with colleagues
at all levels and in all departments of the organization.
- Providing guidance to other departments to ensure success of
product launch and on-market products.
- Interacting with upper management in communicating project
status, issues and resourcing.EquivalencyDepending on the area of
assignment, directly related experience or a combination of
directly related education and experience and/or competencies may
be considered in place of the stated requirements.PayScaleThe
estimated pay scale for this Director, Molecular R&D role based
in San Diego, CA, is $194,085 to 242,606 per year. Additionally,
the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company
bonus pool. We offer a wide variety of benefits including, but not
