Summary A Community Life Ambassador (CLA) serves all San Diego
Rescue Mission Programs and promotes community building,
student/guest health, safety and accountability. Community Life
Ambassadors support students/guests in their daily needs, creates a
stable and safe environment necessary for a holistic approach to
recovery and healing. The Overnight Housekeeping-Focused Community
Life Ambassador (CLA) plays a critical role in maintaining facility
cleanliness, sanitation, and readiness for daily operations. This
role is primarily responsible for detailed overnight cleaning,
stocking, and facility upkeep, while also supporting guest safety,
logging and ministry presence during quiet hours. This position is
ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated
to serve through excellence in facility care recognizing that
cleanliness and order are foundational to dignity, safety and
healing. Key Responsibilities To provide facility cleaning &
readiness: Perform deep overnight cleaning of all residential,
program/shelter and common areas; sanitize high-touch surfaces;
strip and remake beds; launder linens; remove trash and bio-waste;
sweep, mop, vacuum and polish floors; restock toiletries, PPE and
supplies; complete cleaning rotations and prepare spaces for
morning operations; and promptly report maintenance needs. To
provide overnight operations, safety & documentation: Maintain
visible overnight presence and conduct facility rounds; monitor for
unusual activity; support quiet-hours; assist with basic guest
needs; follow emergency protocols; communicates incidents to
supervisors; complete detailed e-logs and housekeeping checklists;
document guest interactions and sanitation issues; and support
compliance standards and inspections. To provide Ministry presence
and Guest care: uphold a trauma-informed and respectful
environment; engage guests calmly and professionally; represent the
Mission's values in conduct and communication; and reinforce
community standards, accountability, and dignity throughout the
overnight shift. To represent our Mission, Vision and Values and
continue to grow professionally and spiritually Qualifications
Education : Refer to experience. AA Social Services, Psychology,
Human Development, Ministry or related field from an accredited
institution (or commensurate experience, equating to 1 year) a
plus. Experience: With custodial, housekeeping, janitorial or
facilities experience strongly preferred, experience working with
vulnerable populations helpful and Nonprofit or shelter experience
a plus. Lived experience of homelessness counts towards education
and experience Skills and Abilities: Exceptional attention to
detail Strong sanitation and cleaning practices Ability to work
independently and overnight as part of a team Calm demeanor and
good judgement Comfortable following checklists and protocols Time
Management and Task prioritization Dependable attendance Physically
able to stand, walk, lift, bend and clean for extended periods of
time Coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and
