Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the
Port Engineer/Eng Technician VI
PAE is actively seeking a Port Engineer to support the Southern
California Tactical Training Range (SCTTR) Contract located at
Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA.
The Port Engineer will be responsible for managing the material
and operational readiness for vessels operated by PAE by managing
shipyard logistics; preventative maintenance; regular and major
repairs and/or upgrades to vessels; loading/unloading dock
facilities; engineering related safety training; and equipment
operation. Position develops SOPs and instructions in respect to
vessel engineering. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules,
regulations and policy.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Ensures compliance with company policy state and federal laws
and regulations, safety and industry standards.
Ensures the operational readiness of the vessels.
Maintains records of vessel maintenance.
Prepares specifications, with the assistance of the vessel
Master, and Chief Engineer, for vessel dry-docking, major machinery
overhauls, modifications and upgrades to ship operations.
Manages logistics associated with vessels, shipyard repairs,
inventory, maintenance, shipping and receiving.
Maintains an adequate supply of repair parts and maintenance
Organizes, directs and supervises the Engine Department to
provide safe, efficient and economical operation of ship's
machinery, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Supervision of engineering positions including plan, assign and
approve work; rewards/discipline; respond to grievances; hire/fire
(or effectively recommend); prepare and sign performance
Technical knowledge of vessels and related equipment,
maintenance operations, overhaul, design, and regulations.
Familiarity with applicable international and US regulations
pertaining to the operation and maintenance of vessels.
Candidate must have the ability to obtain an Interim Security
Clearance (or transfer) in a timely manner, and maintain a US
Government ( DoD ) Secret Clearance for this position on the SCTTR
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering preferred)
from maritime or military academy, college, or university, or 8
years in marine engineering, and a minimum of 4 years of experience
with vessel management or an equivalent combination of education
Valid Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) with licensing issued
by the United State (US) Coast Guard. Minimum required USCG
licensing of Designated Duty Engineer with no horsepower
