Sr. Microbiology Technician
Reporting the Sr. Microbiologist, this position participates in activities related to applied biological research for ongoing analytical studies. Performs statistical analysis of findings and communicates findings to the organization. In concert with other disciplines and peers, participates in, and guides the development of, protocols for biological research studies and evaluates alternate methodologies. Recommends materials, supplies, and equipment as required for studies.
Primary Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
Conducts basic laboratory biological research in accordance with stipulated protocols and quality and safety standards.
Prepares and maintains research findings, summaries, logs and notes, and develops statistical results of research.
Prepares research findings and supporting data for peer journal publication, oral presentation, or other dissemination and archiving.
Prepares findings and analysis in support of medical device regulatory submissions and investigations.
Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
In depth knowledge of microbiology and molecular biology and standard techniques for the isolation and characterization of organisms
Experience with endospores and thermophiles is highly desirable
Strong written skills to produce reports, procedures, and presentations
Strong analytical skills to analyze and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and others.
Baccalaureate of Science in a technical discipline plus two to five years' experience in a regulated or ISO compliant industry, and/or training and equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures.
General understanding of business unit/group function
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
